Episode 104 of Voices of Revival brought both laughter and depth as host Bradley Higgins welcomed regulars David Coffey and Chris Pilcher, along with first-time guest Chase Shotwell. The group opened with lighthearted banter about guest appearances before diving into a powerful conversation on obedience, media ministry, and the cost of saying yes to God. Chase shared his journey from behind the camera to stepping into ministry, testifying how God calls us out of comfort zones to display His glory. He emphasized that capturing spiritual moments through media isn’t just about quality—it’s about testifying to the move of God.

As the discussion progressed, the focus shifted to themes of burnout, humility, and spiritual identity. Chris reflected on his missionary transitions and the significance of a consistent “yes” to God, even when the outcomes are uncertain. David offered raw, humorous, and convicting insights on guarding one’s heart, staying rooted in Scripture, and serving from a place of health rather than performance. The episode was a blend of sharp humor and profound truth—reminding listeners that revival doesn’t come through giftedness, but through yielded hearts that know their why.

Top 5 Quotes from Episode 104:

  1. "The same walls I built to keep people out were the ones that kept me trapped." – Chase Shotwell

  2. "You never say yes to the big assignment. You say yes in the little things, over and over, until obedience becomes your rhythm." – Chris Pilcher

  3. "You can’t get on your knees enough to save a soul—it’s not about performance, it’s about relationship. Let God do the work." – David Coffey

  4. "If you forget that before anything else you're a son, you’ll start placing your identity in things that were never meant to hold it." – Bradley Higgins

  5. "If you’re not rooted, your why won’t survive. You’ll be dying inside while serving on the outside—and that’s not what God wants." – Chase Shotwell

Tonight’s Voices of Revival with Ben Westry

A Look at last week’s Tuesday Discipleship Call

Last week's Tuesday discipleship group centered around John 14–16 as a foundation for understanding the book of Acts. The group discussed how Jesus repeatedly emphasized the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, not merely as a power source but as a Comforter, Teacher, and reminder of truth. A key takeaway was that the Holy Spirit didn’t just come to empower, but came in response to Jesus' prayer so that believers would never be alone. The group also wrestled with how we sometimes miss what God is doing because we expect it to look a certain way—just like the disciples, who looked for a political king while Jesus was offering a greater spiritual kingdom.

Testimonies and open dialogue revealed how God is using this group to grow deep faith and spiritual maturity. From stories of nervous obedience turning into moments of supernatural clarity, to the realization that joy, peace, and faith are fruit and gifts of the Spirit—not just feelings—we saw how abiding in Christ produces lasting transformation. The night ended with a call to deeper prayer and reflection, a reminder that the Holy Spirit speaks, comforts, and brings to remembrance everything Jesus said—if we remain yielded and attentive.

Top 5 Quotes:

  1. "The Holy Spirit came because Jesus prayed to the Father and asked Him to send the Comforter—so that we would not be alone."

  2. "Faith is both a fruit and a gift of the Spirit—sometimes it’s not about what you believe, but what the Holy Spirit believes through you."

  3. "The presence of joy, peace, and a sound mind is not a random feeling—it’s the evidence that the Holy Spirit has made His home in you."

  4. "Obedience doesn’t always look like what we expect, but on the other side of our yes is something greater than we ever imagined."

  5. "If someone claims to speak by the Spirit and it glorifies themselves instead of Jesus—that’s your first sign it’s not God."

Update on our 31 session teaching series on the topic of prayer

Our 31-part series on prayer is well underway. Right now, we’re in the middle of a 7-part arc exploring the letters to the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. At first glance, this might seem like an unexpected direction—after all, these passages don’t directly address prayer. But one of the core themes of this series has been shifting our understanding of prayer from a list of petitions to a real, ongoing conversation with God.

With that in mind, we've been digging into what it means to truly hear God’s voice. And in the wake of that conversation, we’ve turned our attention to these seven churches. Why? Because if prayer is dialogue, then these letters are a written record of what God has said to believers in prayer. Don’t forget—according to Revelation chapter 1, the entire book was birthed from John being “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day.” In other words, Revelation was born from the place of prayer.

Vulnerability Is Key

Dear Brothers and Sisters ,

Vulnerability is something the Church needs to grow in!

Running into Christians who are struggling and battling sin alone needs to be a thing of the past.

As believers, we are called to live in the light as He is in the light.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in

uThere are so many reasons why not walking in vulnerability is  dangerous:

1. Hiding sin struggles is dangerous.

It creates a cycle of shame and guilt that keeps people bound when God has called us to walk in freedom.

2. Hiding where you truly are in your walk with Christ prevents growth.

Not being honest about what you lack—whether it’s knowledge of Scripture, a consistent prayer life, or something else—prevents others from equipping you with what you need.

3. If you’re struggling with life situations but keep hiding it, you’re blocking help.

Your brothers and sisters in Christ can’t pray for you, encourage you, or give you clarity if they don’t know what’s going on.

4. Hiding prevents you from being truly rooted in community.

People can’t fully love you or connect with you if they don’t truly know you.

This may be convicting, but I want to speak honestly to my brothers and sisters in Christ:

When you choose not to walk in vulnerability and instead choose to hide, you are walking in either pride or deception.

Vulnerability allows you to be sharpened by the people around you.

Vulnerability allows you to receive help in times of struggle.

Vulnerability allows you to have deep and authentic relationships with the Body of Christ.

Don’t fall for the enemy’s tactic to keep you bound, poorly equipped, and alone.

Hiding isn’t strength—it’s pride and fear of man, and it’s robbing you of what God has for you.

Our third NKountr at the Kingdom, a regional youth rally is locked in for August 8th.

“Pile of Stones” — A Revival & Discipleship Intensive

We’re excited to officially announce a brand-new initiative happening at the end of August. On August 29th & 30th, Voices of Revival has been invited to partner with Temple of Praise Church in Miamisburg, Ohio to host a Revival and Discipleship Intensive focused on the topic of prayer.

Here’s the speaker lineup for the weekend:

Friday, 7 PMBradley Higgins
Saturday, 10 AMDavid PinterThe Prayer Life of Jesus
Saturday, 11 AMMisty ShotwellIntercession
Saturday, 12 PMKeenan SniderHearing God
Saturday, 7 PMMikey Lamb

The theme “Pile of Stones” is drawn from the imagery of Old Testament altars. When Elijah erected a stone altar and prayed, God answered by fire. When Solomon did the same, God answered by fire.

Today, we no longer build physical altars or offer burnt sacrifices. Instead, we present ourselves as living sacrifices. In the Upper Room, 120 believers gathered in one accord, offering themselves in prayer—and again, God answered by fire.

How to support

If you would consider financially supporting these efforts, know that even a small gift can go a long way. Below, you'll find several ways to give.

Additionally, during the upcoming “Pile of Stones” event, we will receive offerings during the Friday and Saturday night services. We would love to have you join us in person—and if you’re able to attend, we ask that you prayerfully consider sowing into what God is doing.

Thank you for standing with us in faith.
