A look back at last week’s Voices of Revival

In this powerful one-on-one conversation, Pastor David Pinter brings a seasoned and Spirit-led perspective on revival, discernment, and the critical need for depth in the Word. With over 30 years of ministry experience, he challenges both young and seasoned leaders to ground themselves in sound doctrine while remaining open to the full work of the Holy Spirit. David speaks candidly about the dangers of drifting into either legalism or fanaticism when one aspect (Word or Spirit) is neglected. He emphasizes that true balance comes when both the Word and Spirit are actively alive in the life of a believer.

A major portion of the discussion centers on the power and necessity of prayer and intercession. Drawing from Luke’s Gospel, Pastor David walks listeners through the prayer life of Jesus, highlighting how prayer always precedes open heavens and fresh revelation. He also reflects deeply on Abraham’s intercession for Sodom as the foundation of prophetic function and compares it to Jesus' ongoing intercession for us. With authority and compassion, he closes by speaking directly to those wrestling with unforgiveness, reminding them that mercy is a divine weapon—and that releasing others through forgiveness opens the door for heaven to move.

Top 5 Quotes from Episode 103

  1. “Prayer precedes the move of God. In Luke’s Gospel, every breakthrough was preceded by prayer.”

  2. “If the Word is not your foundation, the movement of the Spirit can drift into fanaticism. If you ignore the Spirit, you’ll fall into legalism.”

  3. “Intercession is the beginning of prophetic function. Abraham didn’t just prophesy—he stood in the gap.”

  4. “When we withhold forgiveness, we act as God. But when we forgive, we release people to God—and He judges righteously.”

  5. “We don’t need shallow messages. Our young people are hungry for depth, and we must be willing to take them there.”

Tonight at 9pm EST we are slated to go live with the 104th episode of Voices of Revival. We will be joined by two familiar faces and one brand-new guest. Returning to the podcast are David Coffey and Chris Pilcher—both among our most frequent guests and always full of wisdom and insight. Chase has a deep passion for media, carries a spirit of excellence, and currently hosts his own podcast where he’s been teaching through the Gospel of Matthew.

A Look at the Tuesday Night Discipleship Calls

Last week marked the first of our Tuesday Night Discipleship Calls, and while the turnout wasn’t what we anticipated, what God is doing in this group of young men is nothing short of remarkable.

We had nearly 30 guys slated to join the call, but only about a third were able to attend—many unavailable due to peak summer schedules. At first, I felt a twinge of disappointment. But I’ve learned something over the years: we often step into assignments with a picture in our mind of how things should look, only to find that God’s plan looks very different—and far more fruitful.

Over a year ago, the Lord led me to start a weekly Saturday morning prayer gathering at a local park for the summer of 2024. I imagined a strong turnout. But the first week, I was alone. The second, three people came. We never grew beyond that. Initially, I was discouraged—it wasn’t what I expected. But now I look back and see it as one of the most fruitful seasons of my life.

One of those three was a brand-new believer. After our final gathering, he said he wanted to be baptized. I joked, “Let’s do it!”—and to my surprise, he responded, “Okay, let’s go.” That day, we went to a creek, and I baptized him on the spot. Another attendee went on to start a Bible study in his home, which quickly grew beyond capacity and eventually became a full young adult ministry at his church—where he now serves as the leader.

That experience taught me not to judge what God is doing by what I see. What looked small was actually full of eternal impact. So when only 9 guys joined our first Tuesday night call, I was briefly discouraged—but peace came quickly. I’ve seen too many times that God will do more than we could ask or imagine.

Our plan is to walk slowly and intentionally through the book of Acts. Last week, we only covered the first three verses. This week, we’re positioned to dive deeper—and the momentum is already building. The group has now grown to 32 guys, and we believe God is raising up leaders for this hour.

Please continue to pray for this discipleship effort. Of everything Voices of Revival is involved in, I believe this may be the most important.

31 Day Intensive on Prayer

We’ve officially entered the third week of our 31-Day Intensive Teaching Series on the topic of prayer. Each day throughout July, we’re releasing a new teaching session on YouTube, diving deep into this foundational pillar of our faith.

At the start of the series, we focused on reshaping our understanding of prayer—not merely as a list of requests, but as intimate communion with God, a two-way conversation with the Creator. From there, we explored Jesus’ direct teachings on prayer and examined the patterns of His own prayer life. Last week, we spent time studying key Scriptures that ground and guide us in the place of prayer.

Now, as we enter week three, we’re shifting our focus to hearing the voice of the Lord. Each session builds upon the last as we continue to grow in deeper relationship and spiritual discernment.

If you’ve missed any sessions, now’s a great time to jump in and catch up!

Comfort Is Not Peace

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

So often, I hear people express that they must be in God’s will and living in His peace because their lives feel so comfortable. Their situations seem easy, and they don’t feel stretched in the season they are in. But I feel led to tell you that there is a difference between being comfortable and truly living in His peace.

Comfort comes from circumstances—when life is easy and you aren’t stretched. But God’s peace comes from Him. Regardless of your situation—when life is hard and you’ve been called far beyond your comfort zone—God’s peace remains unchanged.

Comfort is dependent on circumstances. But God’s peace is rooted in Him—the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

True peace is built on the foundation of our unchanging God and cannot be moved by circumstance. But comfort will always slip away because it is rooted in things that are always changing.

How Do We Live in Peace Instead of Temporary Comfort?

I believe Jesus shows us the answer beautifully in Mark 4:37–40:

“And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, ‘Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?’ And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, ‘Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?’”

Mark 4:37–40 ESV

Catch the situation:

The disciples were terrified.

The situation they were in had completely robbed them of comfort.

But look at Jesus.

He was asleep in the middle of the storm, undisturbed by the chaos, because He was living in peace.

Notice what happens next—He wakes up, calms the storm, and rebukes them:

“Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?”

I believe Jesus is highlighting something essential:

He is saying, Don’t you have faith in the One who is with you?

Jesus knew the Father was with Him.

And just as Jesus believed the Father was with Him—and had peace in the storm—I believe we are called to believe that Jesus is with us, and that we, too, can have peace in the storms of our lives because we have faith in the One who is always with us.

Don’t Settle for Comfort

Brothers and sisters, don’t settle for comfort.

Have faith in the One who brings peace that surpasses understanding!

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:7 ESV

First Public Announcement: “Pile of Stones” — A Revival & Discipleship Intensive

We’re excited to officially announce a brand-new initiative happening at the end of August. On August 29th & 30th, Voices of Revival has been invited to partner with Temple of Praise Church in Miamisburg, Ohio to host a Revival and Discipleship Intensive focused on the topic of prayer.

This is the first public release of this information—and we believe it will be a significant weekend of transformation, equipping, and encounter.

Here’s the speaker lineup for the weekend:

Friday, 7 PMBradley Higgins
Saturday, 10 AMDavid PinterThe Prayer Life of Jesus
Saturday, 11 AMMisty ShotwellIntercession
Saturday, 12 PMKeenan SniderHearing God
Saturday, 7 PMMikey Lamb

The theme “Pile of Stones” is drawn from the imagery of Old Testament altars. When Elijah erected a stone altar and prayed, God answered by fire. When Solomon did the same, God answered by fire.

Today, we no longer build physical altars or offer burnt sacrifices. Instead, we present ourselves as living sacrifices. In the Upper Room, 120 believers gathered in one accord, offering themselves in prayer—and again, God answered by fire.

We will gather.
We will pray.
And may the Lord once more answer by fire.

Help Us Keep Moving Forward

We currently have a growing number of open doors—and even more opportunities on the horizon. Some of these doors, if we walk through them, represent massive steps forward for the mission. But with every open door comes the need for resources—resources we don’t currently have.

Voices of Revival operates without financial backing. And yet, every step of the way, God has provided. The Riverfront Revival earlier this June had a price tag nearing $5,000, and God met the need in full. We trust He will continue to do so.

If you would consider financially supporting these efforts, know that even a small gift can go a long way. Below, you'll find several ways to give.

Additionally, during the upcoming “Pile of Stones” event, we will receive offerings during the Friday and Saturday night services. We would love to have you join us in person—and if you’re able to attend, we ask that you prayerfully consider sowing into what God is doing.

Thank you for standing with us in faith.
