Voices of Revival Weekly

Four young men said yes to Jesus, and the altar became a place of freedom

The Cost Is Worth It – Reflections from Episode 169

This past week on Episode 169 of Voices of Revival, we were joined by Elijah Beers and William Highley. The conversation centered around a simple but powerful truth: obedience to God often carries a cost, but the cost is always worth it.

Throughout the episode we talked about faith, obedience, and the reality that many times we never immediately see the fruit of what God asks us to do. Seeds are planted in moments that seem small or even unnoticed. Yet God is the master builder, weaving together things we cannot yet see.

As Elijah said during the episode, sometimes the call of God leads you into places that don't make sense to the natural mind. But when you know Jesus and you know His voice, you simply say yes and trust Him with the outcome.

That conversation set the stage for something we had been praying for all week.

Friday night we gathered for the fourth NKountr youth rally at the Kingdom Sports Center in Franklin.

And once again, God moved.

NKountr – A Space of Encounter

We advertise NKountr as a regional youth rally, but truthfully that label doesn’t fully capture what it is.

What we are actually doing is creating a space where unchurched students can encounter Jesus.

You don’t have to go to a foreign country to find the unreached. They are right here in our communities, walking the halls of our schools every day.

At the previous NKountr gatherings we have seen an average of about 10 students give their lives to Jesus.

This time, something different happened.

When the altar call was made, four young men rushed forward to give their lives to Jesus.

And in that moment, everything else faded into the background.

As the altar opened, the altar team immediately surrounded them. No rush. No pressure to move on. Just people lingering in prayer as God moved.

I watched as one of the young men simply wept under the power of God while altar workers prayed with him.

Moments like that remind you why we do this.

That moment may look small to some people.

But encounters like that change the trajectory of a life.

I remember being around ten years old myself, standing in an altar and weeping under the power of the Holy Spirit. That moment helped shape the direction of my entire life.

That’s what the altar is supposed to be.

A place of encounter.

And Friday night, the altar didn’t just see salvations.

It was flooded with students seeking freedom.

Students wept. Some knelt. Others lay prostrate before the Lord. There was no hurry to close the service. Everyone simply lingered in the presence of God.

It was powerful.

The Next Generation Is Rising

The service itself was led by three young men from different churches.

They did an incredible job.

Watching them lead with humility, boldness, and passion was deeply encouraging.

If Friday night showed us anything, it is this:

The future of the Church is in good hands.

God is raising up a generation that is hungry for Him.

A Moment That Stuck With Me

One of the most interesting conversations from the night came from a student I’ve been walking with.

He comes from a church background that does not believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit. Recently he has been wrestling with that topic as God has been opening his heart.

Not long ago he actually received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues while alone at home. Even now he is still processing what God has been doing in his life.

During altar service Friday night he came up to me and said something that caught my attention.

He said:

"Brad, the craziest thing happened to me during worship. Those four guys who ended up going to the altar… I can't explain it, but I could see the presence of God resting on them. They weren't taking anything seriously at first. They were joking around. But I saw God's presence on them… and then they ran to the altar."

My response to him was twofold.

First:

No one comes to repentance unless the Holy Spirit draws them.

Second:

I asked him what him three years ago would say if he heard himself claiming he could see the Spirit of God resting on someone.

He laughed and said:

"Three years ago I would ask what kind of drugs I was taking."

God is doing something radical in this generation.

We can either sit back and critique what God is doing.

Or we can jump into the flow of the power of God.

Who are we to tell God what He can or cannot do?
